I was pro mainframe my entire career. In the 90’s, many of the clowns here
battled me over the demise of the platform. I was right. Into the years
subsequent to Y2K, numerous people here kept saying the mainframe’s days were
numbered. They were wrong. IBM is not MSFT. But, they are hitting it out of the
ballpark and the platform isn’t going away anytime soon. Anyone wanting a
guaranteed career of 30-40 years should get trained in COBOL. COBOL code still
runs the world and will for decades into the future.
The mainframe is dead, long live the mainframe!
