AMEN!!!! For someone working on important, complex, long-term (decades) applications, it might appear that C/C++ is perhaps too slippery. Also, the frequently changing C/C++ base is perhaps one reason for the missing manuals ---- especially manuals that are specific to the System Z & z/OS designs. I like my PCs (usually!) and I like the IBM mainframes (mostly!), but I believe they are best used for separate purposes. Attempting to make one to be like the other might not be the best plan.
