Why couldn't it have done it the first time then? The world may never know.

We'll need IBM to chime in for a definitive answer but my guess is that DFDSS
invoked Idcams Define under the covers and that drove the ACS Dataclass routine.

Radoslaw,

Kindly refer to 11.6.5 ACS routines invoked for restoring,
recalling, recovering, and
converting data sets in the DFP Storage Admin. Manual

DSS Restore does not invoke the Dataclass routine.

I don't have access to the manuals, but my failing memory tells me
that you can try REPLACE (and preallocated empty cluster). I would
also check IMPORT.
A last resort I would try IDCAMS REPRO to preallocated cluster.

Ding, Ding, Ding. We have a winner, but I broke up in laughter after it worked.

1) I pre-allocated the ZFS file system on the volume and SMS attributes I
wanted.
2) Copied the file system with RENAMEUNCONDITIONAL and REPUNC options.
3) DFDSS noticed the pre-allocated datasets, noticed that it was too small,
deleted it, re-allocated it and copied the file system.
4) The newly allocated zFS file system had all the SMS attributes I wanted.

Is this a bug or a feature?
