Steve,

The MVS/QuickRef JCL library contains a member (and supporting Rexx execs)
named QWDSLIST. It is JCL for a batch job that can be modified to report by
SMS Storage group. The job will sort the output based upon your chosen
criteria, so you could sort the report descending on available tracks in a
chosen storage group. The report is written to a DASD file, so you could
post-process it with a Rexx exec and put up an alarm when the free space in
the storage group drops below a chosen threshold.

When you say "storage pool", I think you mean "SMS Storage Group"; if not,
you can choose DASD volumes to report on by mount status, volser pattern,
esoteric or generic device type or SMS storage group.
