Pardon my (hopefully constructive) criticism, but that survey needs to be in two parts – one for python USERS (i.e., application developers) and one for python MAINTAINERS (i.e., systems programming staff). Application developers frequently have no way to answer questions like how often the software is updated or when/if python packages are made available. Sometimes systems programming staff are also python users, but sometimes not at all.
Peter From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> On Behalf Of JC Yao Sent: Tuesday, June 3, 2025 12:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Please help - User survey for IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python We are conducting a Python User Research Survey to gain a deeper understanding of your needs and usage of Python on z/OS. The survey is available at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/EnKStQphyb As you may know, Python, along with ZOAU (Z Open Automation Utilities) and OEF (Open Enterprise Foundation for z/OS), became z/OS bypassable requisites since July 2024. We have seen a substantial increase in the adoption of these no-charge offerings, which in turn help IBM Z users modernize their z/OS applications, particularly in automation and AI. Your input with this Python user survey will help us prioritize our efforts in improving Python on z/OS to meet your needs.
