If it's a copper connection, you could connect a PC instead of the OSA and see
if it connects to the switch.
For all connections there are devices that will tell you if the cable is
connected.

Subject: OSA physical connectivity check

Hello,

Is there any way to verify physical connectivity between OSA card and network
switch?

This is for new Lpar (not yet IPLed) and new OSA card. Switch side connection
shows no signal due to no TCPIP at Lpar side. Is there any way to verify
physical connection, without IPLing the Lpar?

Thank you,
Prashant
