PTF's have LRECL=80 and the library is not in library format and will use SMPWRK to make it a library. If it were a RELFILE, then RECEIVE would have created a library directly thus eliminating the need for SMPWRK6. It doesn't hurt to ask IBM for a solution. The solution may be as simple as asking that product deliver PTF's as RELFILES instead of inline PTF.
