Richard,

I would like to know what part of the FLD/FLDENT explanation in the "SDSF
Operation And Customization Guide" is confusing or obscure so that we can
improve the documentation.

Thanks

As suggested by Itschak (thanks!) this line was added to member ISFPRMnn :

FLDENT COLUMN(JOBCRDATE),TITLE('JobCrDate'),WIDTH(D)

and it works.
Field JOBCRDATE always appears in a COLH command, but it did not appear in an
ARRANGE list until the above line was added to ISFPRMnn.

IBM is cryptic about how to make changes like this.

Jim The JobCrDate column is in the default field list for ST, so the most
likely reason is that your installation has specified its own field list for ST
in the active ISFPRMxx parmlib member. Any ISFPRMxx specification for
FLD/FLDENT trumps

Jim

The JobCrDate column is in the default field list for ST, so the most likely
reason is that your installation has specified its own field list for ST in the
active ISFPRMxx parmlib member. Any ISFPRMxx specification for FLD/FLDENT
trumps the supplied field list in the executable code.

We advise against using FLD/FLDENTs in ISFPRMxx these days as most of the
reasons for doing so have been superseded (for example trying to right align
numeric column titles). Using FLD/FLDENTs also means that it is likely that new
columns added by PTFs or new releases do not appear on the displays. Note that
we stopped supplying FLD/FLDENTs for new panels in z/OS 3.1.

The prime reason for some of the legacy panels having alternate FLD/FLDENTs
(accessed using the "?" primary command), was to keep the "delayed" fields off
the primary display. Delayed fields are so called because they require actual
spool I/O and can drastically increase the overhead when showing the panel.
SDSF will only gather the information when the field comes into view (or is
used on FILTER/SORT criteria).

This may sound like a stupid question but have you asked SDSF itself for help?
If you hit F1 on the ST panel it will tell you what can be done with the panel
itself but If you select Help on the Action Bar Line, it will give you the
master help hierarchy for SDSF. It may help you find how to do what you want.

🚨 EXTERNAL SENDER: DO NOT click links or open attachments unless you recognize
this sender and verify the email address.

You first need to update isfprmxx in the parmlib concatenation to defined this
field.
