This comment from Phil I totally agree with "But there certainly are cases where we've seen questions that look suspiciously like homework!"

Sometimes ya gotta say "Dude[ette], at least try!" but the gracious and professional approach is to assume that they've tried, and point them at the doc. As someone with 45 years of VM experience and only 18 with z/OS, I'd also note that the z/OS doc is vastly inferior to the z/VM doc in terms of usage examples. Many z/OS examples are trivial and not very helpful, or completely nonexistent. That's not a knock against z/OS--it's older, larger, etc.--but rather an acknowledgement that I've for sure been on the receiving end of "RTFM [dumba**]" when I really *did* try. I like to think that when that's happened, it's mostly been because I didn't have any idea which manual to look in. (That goes back to z/OS being bigger: I think it's often not as obvious where to look for something as in VM-land.) But there certainly are cases where we've seen questions that look suspiciously like homework! ________________________________ Warning: All e-mail sent to this address will be received by the corporate e-mail system, and is subject to archival and review by someone other than the recipient.
