Peter, What IBM typically likes to size the TS7700 would be 30 days of SMF data, record types 14, 15 and 21. They also would need a backup of the tape management system catalog. The backup should be taken close to the last date of the SMF data, example, SMF data 01-June -> 30-June with TMC backup on 30-June or 1-July. I would also think they would need information on the TMC vault dataset names (e.g., vault patterns).
