Hi Steve.
Sebastian mentioned compiling "LSPF" https://github.com/daniel64/lspf on your
UNIX system, written by the very talented Daniel Erdos. A great idea!

"Hybrid Editor XE", or just "XE", is also worth compiling. It supports
Windows, Linux, AIX, OS/2 and DOS. The latest version v1.30C concentrates on
Windows and Linux. Written by master programmer Mizumaki-machi.
https://github.com/sakachin2/XE

Buried in amongst the source tree is the file aixmkxeV122.tgz for Making an AIX
version of XE at the 2010 v1.22 level.

As you explore XE's directory structure, you should know that "wxe" stands for
Windows XE, "gxe" stands for Gnome/GTK XE (think: Linux), and the "ulib" and
"xe" subdirectories have common (multi-platform) source, some of which is
explicitly for AIX (with "aix" in those names).

After unloading the source, html file XE/docs/xehelp/indexe.htm will bring up
some amazing web-browser-based documentation, including an "AIX Version" menu
option.

Files that end in the letter "j" have Japanese text. They have counterparts
ending in "e" in English.

Here is a link to the old website for Hybrid Editor XE:
https://web.archive.org/web/20190303055258/http://www.geocities.jp/sakachin2/index.htm

Note that as well as ISPF Editor functionality, there are additional bells and
whistles built into XE; although that old web page also covers some quite
separate programs from the same author that are not part of XE.

Good luck! David
