I'm fascinated by this effort. I guess what confuses me is what you're going to 
be able to run on it--surely most/all non-local programs won't be happy?

Well, it has actually been going very well. It is accepting parameters. But 
this is the main issue I was dealing with today - gcc, not mcc:
