Note that the information about content of all IBM System Journal
articles (1962 - 2008) are available in the Association for Computing
Machines Digital Library at
https://dl.acm.org/loi/isyj and you can do searches by author or title,
Looking at the what articles are in each issue (titles, abstract when
available) does not seem to require an ACM login. I have a lifetime
ACM membership w digital library, but even after login I can't see the
actual article text -- that seems to require an IEEE annual membership,
although perhaps there is a way to purchase individual articles.
So online indexes of articles are available from other sources than IBM.

Mike,
I think the indexes were in the last issue of each year.
And sometimes there would be an additional one halfway through the year
(if memory serves)
If you are planning to scan all those volumes, and you need some help,
I'd be okay to plan a trip to the UK to assist at the effort.
Please contact me off-line if this is a viable option to you.
Kind regards,

I have a filing cabinet drawer FULL of IBM System Journals. They start at
volume 10 number 1 through to Volume 31 number 3. Three are missing, as far
as I can tell - Vol 24 No 1, Vol 27 No 2 and Vol 31 No 3.
I VAGUELY remember one of them containing an article on the 3850 MSS, but I
have yet not ploughed through them to find out. Every so often IBM
published an index to the papers as a topic in a System Journal. I haven't
found them either!
If anyone knows which SYSJ has the indices, it would ease any further
searching.
Also, if anyone has any (polite) suggestions as to a future for this
collection, please let me know. They are HEAVY (if I open the drawer to its
full extent, the cabinet topples!). I am UK based - which may well
influence your suggestions..
