There are also good reasons to use TRANMIT, such as target audience familiarity with RECEIVE and the fact that RECEIVE can be run interactively from a TSO or ISPF command line. In my case, the reason is that this is the standard CBT file format, and I'm not about to tell Sam to change! Yes, there are fixes -- the most obvious being to allocate the darned PDS BLKSIZE=3120 to begin with. My point was just that I think this is horrid, user astonishment behavior from a standard utility.
