Hi everyone,

I am pleased to announce a new version of the Jol Command Language (JOL).

Originally sold by Fujitsu and championed by legends like Sam Golob,
JOL was designed to make MVS and later systems significantly easier to
use. As Sam once noted, "Nothing I say here does justice to the
enormity of this great work." It is in that spirit that I’ve updated
JOL to ensure its facilities remain robust for today’s users.

What’s New in this Version?

* Centralized Data Set Operations: A new facility to simplify
allocating, copying, and moving all data set types. It’s designed to
be intuitive, even for those new to the platform.

* Improved Documentation: New overviews and detailed guides are now
available online.

* Enhanced Symbolic Support: Full support for Symbolic Parameters,
including the ability to persist them across different jobs.

Key Features Recap:

* Language: PL/I based, supporting both long JCL-optimized procedures
and short immediate functions.

* Interface: Includes TSO/ISPF-style panels for ease of use.

* Scheduling: A built-in facility to submit and manage job networks
(parallel and sequential execution).

* Download: Download Install.jol60EXE.zip here

Installation Note: After unzipping the file, please use a blocksize of
3120 to load the XMI file to your mainframe.

I hope these updates prove useful to the community and help lower the
barrier for newcomers to the platform. My thanks go out to Sam Golob
and the many contributors who kept this project alive over the years.

Sincerely,

Clem Clarke [email protected]
