When you specify a primary of 4 cyl it can be split into up to 4 extents. It 
sounds like the data set had RLSE specified. If you want a single extent for 
the primary you will need to specify CONTIG. I think RLSE will release unused 
space down to the boundary of the units you used. So, if you specified CYL the 
smallest space left would be 1 Cyl. If you specified TRK or a blksize, then it 
will release down to a TRACK boundary. ROUND changes the boundary up to CYL 
again.

What did you specify? Was SMS involved?

Wrote out a record closed the file however When I go to 3.2

I see 1 cylinder prime 4 cylinder secondary
