The standard for z/OS MVS (and, in general, the other elements of z/OS) is to 
ignore with no message (unless some parameter asks otherwise. Any message 
(warning, even informational) can be something that requires looking at. That 
is not compatible.  An example of "ask otherwise" is the WARNUND (Warn if 
Undefined) parameter of IEASYSxx. 

Were an option to be changed to be rejected (or, likely, even produce a 
warning), a migration action would have to be included in the release (ideally 
with a health check in a preceding release that advises you of the forthcoming 
incompatibility).
