Hmmm - I can see the naif (me in this instance) having a hard time not tripping over the "and", "or" and "true/false" implementations. Could lead to some seriously ugly run-time bugs (i.e. not reported as errors) for those of us from somewhat varied backgrounds. Especially that attempt to describe a ternary operator replacement in the lua-users tutorials.
