We put DB2 databases in their own storage group, and don't take DSS backups. Same with IMS. Application needs to be shut down and use DB2 / IMS / Database backup methods. The ADRDSSU backup with the transaction going would probably not be in a consistent state, I.E. some parts include a specific transaction and some parts don't.
