AFAIK, the dataset blocksize recorded in RMM is the *LOGICAL* blocksize of the dataset. It may or may not bear any relationship to the *PHYSICAL* blocksize used on the tape. Modern controllers "do their thing" and just tell MVS what it needs to know.
