Allan, My issue the files are all SMS managed and I am z/OS v1.12. We have a lot of old tape media and I suspect some of my tape failures with HSM ML2 tape maybe part of the cause.

Datasets have been migrated to ML2 tape. They expired so DFHSM marked the tape files deleted yet the catalogue entries still exit.
