I just ran big (huge?) DFSORT job. I had to play with SORTWK space, used
DYNALLOC=(3390,90) and it worked.
90 seems to be much to much, nevermind. However I saw the following
message in the SYSOUT:
ICE118I 0 UNKNOWN FILE SIZE - FILSZ=EN MAY IMPROVE RESOURCE USAGE AND
PERFORMANCE
Note, the input is concatenation of compressed ext-PS datasets.
Having output from the first (succesful) run, I know exact number of
records, its. 20,8 millions.
So, just to try, I re-ran the job with FILSZ=E20000000. Now I get RC=16
and the message:
ICE083A D RESOURCES WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR DYNAMIC ALLOCATION OF WORK DATA
SETS (970C)
I tried to increase and decrease number of sortworks, no effect.
Q: What about the FILSZ? Why providing the value as recommended causes
job failure?
BTW: ICE098I 0 AVERAGE RECORD LENGTH - PROCESSED: 1119, EXPECTED: 16383
Maybe the above is the answer? Can I provide AVG LRECL or just file size
in bytes?
