It depends on how much you want to spend. I could see using
MXG/SAS that then sends an email when you have that issue CA Vantage If you can do CBTTAPE.ORG products, find one that lists and extracts vsam info and then you could use SMTPNOTE to send an email You could use the Catalog Search Interface (CSI) to list all vsam and if HU-U-RBA is at a certain point, send an email. TREXX utilities from DINOSoftware, Rocket Software, And so forth. Next question. If you have a concern, why not just set the VSAM datasets to EA/EF to start with - then if they need it they get it rather than the application taking an error. If you set the EA/EF in the dataclass, the next time the file is reorg'd it will get it. I am specifically looking for notification if a VSAM file is reaching the 4GB limit and should be converted to extended addressability, but of course any worthwhile product in this space would warn about any type of file that looks like it soon may "run out of space" for any of various reasons. If it does other analysis for things such as CA/CI, BUFSP, etc. being poorly defined that would be a plus. z/OS 1.12, if that matters.
