I had an Earthlink dial up account as a backup to the DSL service here on the Atlantic in the wild west County Clare (BUT WE ARE 2013's ALL IRELAND HURLING CHAMPIONS, BOTH SENIOR AND UNDER 21) but terminated the service last year when their dialup modems in four Irish cities I tried all had modems that responded to the phone call but failed to connect, and their technical support (up 3 levels) denied that Eartlink used modems.
And it most definitely was NOT a free service.
