I have watched this thread.... Something is missing... this is indeed a tough cookie. Wht z/OS level are you on? Just a WAG: Get from this thread all and every sources of Resolver Config and check/compare the statements. For example, look at TCPIPJOBNAME. I believe that if you have more than one such sources, you may get a conflict depending from where you are using NSLOOKUP. You can perhaps try to rename them (to an invalid name, for example) and see which are actually used.
