There is a case to be made for adding to the facilities of existing languages instead of inventing new ones, and the quality of the facilities that a language's macro preprocessor makes available is critical for this. Coherent language extension is always necessary. Someone else's episteme is never satisfactory for long, and the world anyway changes.
