To be precise, some assumption: z/OS is NTP client.
Actually STP feature of CPC is ntp client, z/OS use STP time source.
When connectivity to NTP is lost, then nothing happens.
Just your clock is not adjusted. How much it drifts? Hw bad is your clock?
In case of PC it not so bad, in case of mainframe it's even better, much
better.
So time on z/OS could differ less than 1s per day after the connection
is lost. (my assumption)
Note: you can have and use many NTP servers.
Note2: in the time before NTP maiframe used HMC for calling time source.
HMC dialed using modem to well know time service and synchronized its
time. AFAIR such call had taken place once a day.
