Wayne:

I have never worked on a ACDC system.
However there are are other IBM (MVS & VM) where they come with *KNOWN* passwords (for installation) and that is clearly documented. The point they (I am guessing here) that having the passwords is dangerous in insecure and yes it is. The point should be important is that once you have "installed" these systems it is the users responsibility to go back and change the passwords.

About 35 years ago I was invited to a XMAS party at an office d/t chicago. I saw a screen (VM) that I took a chance and entered the password for a special VM userid and it let me through and they had not changed the password on it like they should have. Did I stop the party ? NO The next day I called up the people and suggested they change their default passwords ASAP!.

Ed

PS: Changing passwords should be top priority of the administrator. Can it lead to damage SURE if not done. Its the administrators responsibility!!!!!

What I mean is that this is probably *his* bootleg system, the whole demo
is a staged fake. If he could crack a real system he wouldn't be using
ADCDMST, first thing you would do is delete or disable the ADCDMST user ID.
Alternatively he "cracked" a vanilla ADCD system.

Just looked a bit closer. The user ID is ADCDMST. If it's a legit system,
the ADCDMST user id has SYS1, RACF special and could be the supplied
default password was in use. Strongly suspect it's a bootleg system.

z/OS is secure or not, it has nothing to do with licensing.

Of course usage of well known user/password says nothing about system
strength, but a lot about system administrator.
