Not the question I asked but it was enough of a hint for me to find the
answer. The SMF record layouts are documented in IBM Ported Tools for z/OS:
OpenSSH User's Guide and the macro FOTSMF77 -- the V1R2 edition of that
manual, but not the V1R1.

Read the install doc on OpenSSH v. 1.2  

You have to enable SMF with the OpenSSH 1.2 config to get SMF records

Anyone ever hear of such a thing? Where is it documented?

A customer is asking us about it. My SMF 119 subtypes only go up to 80.
