For which models? According to System/360 Instruction Timing Information, Form A22-6825-1, SR is faster than XR for all but one of the models listed (30, 50, 60, 62 and 70). The model 40 shows XR and SR to be take the same amount of time. Likewise, the Functional Characteristics manuals for the Model 67 and 75 give timings that show SR is faster than XR. The Model 85 Functional Characteristic gives the same time for XR and SR. >The difference was never, >however, very great or important.
