We are trying to set up encryption on our TS7700 backend stacked tapes (we
don't have any native tape drives) and I have a few questions with doing
encryption setup.
We created a test pool (Pool 2), what I'm not sure of is the current tapes
with this pool that have been used in the past have a recording format of
E07
How is this recording format changed to E07E on the tapes once they have
been reclaimed and all the data has expired or moved to a encrypted tape.
What I'm seeing in our test pool are that these tapes that have a recording
format of E07 will not be used once we have encryption turned up.

We also have some tapes that have never been used that are getting label
errors:
A physical volume has a label error. Internal: DOES, External:
F50320
Physical volume F50320 failed scratch mount. Its label cannot be read
and the tape must be re-initialized
With this information I suspect that the external label doesn't match the
internal label or it is just has not been initialized in the first place.
I have tried to enter the tape back in and just got the same message on it.
Not sure how I can check the internal label since we don't have any
physical tape drives attached to the MVS system.
Do we have to initialize the tapes for the encrypted pool?
If a tape is encrypted, can it be used for a non-encrypted tape once
everything on the encrypted tape has expired or does it have to be used for
encrypted only from that point forward?
Is there a way to see what the re-claim schedule is for the 7740?
