Which lead me to (erroneously) conclude that it doesn't matter what you specify for directory when you allocate a PDSE. I went back and checked all my allocation JCL - those where I either omitted the directory numbers for PDSE or had set them to zero are all broken.

No data class involved here. (My SMS only has only one defined - MULTIV). D ALLOC,OPTIONS SPACE PRIMARY: 4 SECONDARY: 24 DIRECTORY: 0 So in my opinion, this should be aparable. Realizing that I have broken data sets on my hands when I allocated them would have saved me a lot of grief on Saturday. But, since I run on an RDT system, I cannot even report this to IBM. Never mind that I get We are sorry. We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later. when I attempt to login to servicelink. First noticed yesterday.
