If you are licensed, then you should have access to the manuals.  And you 
should also contact the vendor.  They are very  helpful.

One process I use on DFDSS when I want list what is on the tape is to run with 
the parm PARM-'TYPRUN=NORUN'.

FDF may have a similar process to do a test run before the actual run.
