This is just throwing an idea out to the community. Sometimes somebody asks for help which requires a long answer. Especially if the answer includes complicated code. I really don't much like posting much code in email because many (most?) email clients canl reformat the code in such as way as to make it nearly useless.
In the future, I plan to try to answer such questions as completely as possible. And I'll certainly post code if it is, say, around 10 lines or less. But if, for whatever reason, I decide that the only way to really answer a question is with a complete program, I plan to use the "gist" capability on http://github.com, rather than clutter up the list, and archive, with a large post which will likely only be of interest to the questioner, and perhaps a few others. I will then post the URL to this "gist" in my reply (which reply I will hope is useful in and of itself). An example of this would be: https://gist.github.com/JohnArchieMckown/e4f5ac14c55807940820 Which, btw, has a example of writing a z/OS UNIX command in LE-enabled HLASM. It shows how to call sprint() to format it and the BPX1WRT and BPX1WRV to write lines to STDOUT. I hope this is helpful. And, if so, perhaps others might want to do something similar. I use github because I use git as my SCM and I can have a free account if I'm willing to share what I put up on the site. -- There is nothing more pleasant than traveling and meeting new people!
