z/OSMF's software management application will cross-check DDDEFs, data
set residency on volumes, and catalog entries for you.

In the z/OSMF Software Management task, its called the Software Instance Validation report. It not only checks for the data sets and UNIX directories defined by your DDDEF entries, but also looks for the expected element, load module, and alias members and files in those data sets and directories. Or, if you simply want to check for the data sets and directories, then you can also do a View Data Sets action for a software instance. This will also show you the detailed attributes for each of the data sets, such as space, recfm, blksize, etc.

And by the way, these functions are available in z/OSMF V1.13 (with appropriate SPE) and up.
