Hi all,

I'd like to thank everyone who responded to our request below. We've expanded
and uploaded our SMF Reference Summary that shows the record types that we know
about. You can see our announcement in item #8 -
http://www.watsonwalker.com/clist177.html.

I'm still working on the second request below - so that we can build a catalog
of all products that use SMF records. We're extending that deadline to the end
of September, so if you haven't sent in your information yet, please do.

Best regards,
Cheryl

Dear z/OS ISV,

We are about to update our Cheryl Watson's SMF Reference Summary (old version
at http://www.watsonwalker.com/SMFreference.pdf) that will be made available to
the public, and distributed in our classes. We would like to include any of
your products that produce SMF records. Please see record types 208 and 240 on
page 7 of the reference card as examples. If you would like your product to be
included in our summary, please send the name of the product (or component),
the default record type, whether the user can change the record type, and a url
that we can include for the product. We'll include the url to each product in
the summary. We'll send out a draft for your approval before we finalize it. We
need this information by June 20th to be included in our update. I'll post a
note on IBM-Main when the new Reference Summary is available.

As a second request, we are considering including an article in a future Cheryl
Watson's Tuning Letter to list programs that read and process any SMF records.
This will not review the products, it will simply be a catalog, showing the
product name, your company name, a link to the product’s web page, a list of
the SMF records that it processes, information about the type of output it
produces (tabular reports, graphic reports, XML, CSV, etc), whether it
populates the SMF data into some form of database, whether it includes sample
reports, and whether it supports the ability to create your own reports. If you
have such a product please provide this information by the end of August.
Again, we will send out a draft of the article for your approval before we
publish it. Please fill out the following information for each product that
processes SMF records and send to [email protected].

Product name:
Company name:
URL:
Contact phone:
Contact email:
SMF records processed:
Output:
User reports:
Product description:

Once completed, we'll send each responder a full copy of that Tuning Letter
issue. Many, many thanks for your help!

Best regards,
Cheryl
