I currently have an EMC DMX-4 attached via 4 FICON channels and back-up to virtual tape over ESCON. The Mainframe is a z9-L03 running z/OS 1.13 It is possible I will go to a FICON attached virtual tape solution which will require another FICON card. I know that to avoid the single point of failure, I should do this, but would I gain any efficiencies by moving two of the DMX-4 connections to the new FICON card and also split the virtual tape channel over two cards also.
