IMHO you missed the point.
Both STP and NTP are time protocols, both use "stratum" concept.
Of course STP is not NTP. It is very well described in the redbooks (you
know the books as an author ;-) )
However STP can act as "man in the middle" in NTP structure: z/OS can
work as ntp server, the z/OS get time from CPC, CPC get time from STP,
which can be adjusted from ntp.
In classic NTP network subsequent ntp server is stratum N+1. The
question is: assuming HMC ntp is stratum3, what is stratum level on z/OS
ntp? Is it 4, 5, or 1 ?
