The binder's continuing support for SETSSI and the system status index
is entirely appropriate: historically, they have been used for many
purposes.

The availability of control-section specific IDRs and the IDENTIFY
binder control statement have, however, made SETSSI obsolescent.

SETSSI sets the system status index for the entire output load module
or program object. Multiple IDRs, each providing 40 bytes of
information for load modules or 80 bytes of information for program
objects, can be supplied for each section (CSECT, RSECT, or
labeled-common block).
