Elardus,

Entering the ? command displays the JOB DATA SET DISPLAY screen, as you note.
Pressing F1 should display the HELP panel, option 3 will list the fields on the
panel - there are 8 panels of fields to display. Panel 2 on my z/OS 1.13
system says this:

Access for fields marked with * is immediate when JDS is accessed from H or O;
otherwise, access for all fields is delayed.

Title           Description
DDNAME Ddname of the data set
StepName        Output creation step name
ProcStep Output creation procedure step name
DSID            Data set ID
Owner* User ID of SYSIN/SYSOUT owner
C* Original or released output class
Dest*           Print destination name
<snip>

I don't know what "delayed" means in this context but it does seem to indicate
that access to several fields (including output class) is different when the
path to this screen is not via H or O.

I cannot recall ever working on a system where I was able to overtype fields in
the manner your colleague describes. IMO this is WAD.

Subject: Changing Job Output class in ST screen in SDSF

Good day to all,

Just curious, if you don't mind please.

One of my colleagues wants to change a job output class (column S) in 'JOB DATA
SET DISPLAY' in ST screen in SDSF.

Ie, you enter a ? next to the job, press enter and see lines of different Job
Datasets. Nothing on that screen is overtypeable.

I am NOT talking about Column C in ST screen, but column C (OCLASS) in 'JOB
DATA SET DISPLAY' (SDSF Secondary Panel) after you entered a line command '?'.

Of course, I tried it out, RTFM, Googled, searched on IBM-MAIN + RACF-L,
putting RACF profiles in SDSF class in warning, etc.

Nothing - You can do the same thing in O or H screens. Turn access to None, you
tab past that overtype-able field. Turn access to read, you can tab into it and
modify your output class.

I told the person to go to O or H screen and play there. He swears high and low
he could do it on ST screen on another system. I tried the same on that system,
but it is also configured the same as ours.

Ok, I'm pretty sure there is nothing documented in SDSF book (z/OS v1.13).

Did I missed something or is that WAD?
