A quick Google search turned up this: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-pdf-document-management-tools-organizing-research/ Of the three listed there, two look pretty interesting. http://www.mendeley.com/ which runs on Windows, Linux, MacOS and IOS. http://www.debenu.com/products/desktop/debenu-pdf-benubird/ which runs on Windows only. Both are no cost. There's a third one, but it's a Firefox browser add-on. Something a lot of people won't like, I think, but it's also no cost and open source; https://www.zotero.org/ Of the three Mendeley looks the most interesting to me personally.
