You may consider CA SMF DIRECTOR for a comprehensive SMF data management 
software solution, that is if you can convince CA Sales to offer it to you at a 
reasonable price-point.  When invoked, it will detect any SMF MAN file waiting 
to be dumped. As well, it can help ease your migration to SMF LOGSTREAMs, 
if/when that might be important.
