And just by way of encouragement, back around 2010-11 we upgraded three customer sites from OS/390 1.3 (running on Multiprise 2003) to z/OS 1.10 (running on z10) with some applications dating back to the 1970s and earlier. Very few of the applications required any changes (and those were mostly limited to coding errors which subsequent IBM updates started to detect).
