I notice that the IBM .zip contains "zOS V2R2 PDFs July 2015.pdx" apparently created by Acrobat, which is very good. I let Spotlight index the directory, and I find Acrobat's index more useful than Spotlight's. And Adobe Reader is more portable (but, alas, no longer supported for Linux.) But using the *.pdx index is surprisingly slow.
