/bin/cksum lacks cryptographic strength, but probably suffices to detect

SMP/E uses a java app or ICSF to verify SHA-1 checksums.  I believe the former
is not GUPI; the latter is SMOP.

Source code for MD5 appears in RFC 1321; again SMOP, and contaminated by
page headers.
