I used it for 30 years until I got laid off. Yes, it started as VIOplus from Softworks and then it went to EMC then Rocket. It saved incredible amounts of time as we were a huge VSAM shop. I tested a few real VSAM pigs and ran jobs turning off VIOplus (perf Essential now) and jobs went from 1 hour 10 minutes to 18 hours. Actual time. There was no way I could possibly sit down and figure all the jcl changes to tune the VSAM file access to get this kind of benefit. I haven't touched it since 2012 but I would assume it still helps alot with VSAM and Qsam.
