zHyperwrite is z/OS feature come up (I think) on z/OS 2.1 which enable dual write mainly for DB2 log into two separated DS8000 (Storage Subsystem).
It enable the customer to avoid the penalty of latency occurred while need to replicate by Metro Mirror (Synchronous copy) the DB2 log to remote DS8000. zHyperwrite requires Active Hyperswap in the z/OS. IBM claims it reduce up to 40% latency which is a lot due to the fact that DB2 log is one of the major influencer on response time of online transactions (CICS, IMS...). Hope that answer your question. Send me direct if you want/need more details. Regards, Arye Shemer.
