I think you're not grasping what I asked, but perhaps my terminology is not clear. By "shared-common" I meant REQUEST=GETSHARED (to be used subsequently with REQUEST=SHAREMEMOBJ). That is quite different from REQUEST=GETCOMMON. AFFINITY has a lot of relevance to "shared". >Is "affected only by" the right phrase? Should it be "require the >specification of"? You seem to like the term "require the specification of". It is surely not correct here, because that eliminates the case of "or is implicitly asked for by letting it default". I would tend to use "is in effect" rather than "require the specification of". But here it is perhaps trying to say something like "applies for ... only". I'm checking with the developer as to what the behavior of AFFINITY is for REQUEST=GETCOMMON -- how does "letting it default" differ from specifying AFFINITY=SYSTEM,V64COMMON=YES Peter Relson z/OS Core Technology Design ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
