Right. I see that on my system for DB2, for example, where we have prereleases and lots of updates and so forth but DSNA.WHATEVER always gets you the latest and greatest production dataset.
But what does that have to do with my question? <g> Charles -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Beaver Sent: Monday, August 29, 2016 4:14 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Elementary dataset alias question Charles -- As an aside for you and maybe others. Most SYSPROGS will install a product that contains the VERSION/RELEASE level mostly to know what we have. Once we are done testing and over a weekend we will delete the COMMON name and do a define Alias that has the COMMON name pointing to the ACTUAL DSN that contains VERSION/RELEASE name As Lizette showed you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
