I would ask your provider what software they found that does that. As far as I know, when they bring up a zVM image for you to lay down your z/OS image on, the serial numbers are identical to what you run currently. I have not seen a product that cannot run like that.
When I did DR at a DR Provider, they ensured through many meetings that our hardware layout (UCBs, etc) and serial numbers were what we were running at the time. We logged onto z/VM at their site, downloaded our z/OS System and IPL'd. We had no issues. That they indicated they have seen that, perhaps they know what those are. Note: Many vendors can provide DR license codes to avoid these types of tests and issues Lizette > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of Adams, Anne (DTI) > Sent: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 9:05 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: serial numbers ... real and imagine > > Hello friends, > > How can I determine where a software product is pulling the serial number of > the hardware?
